Artist statement:

The COVID-19 pandemic helped me rekindle my love of crafting and yarn work – with projects ranging from knit blankets to embroidered t-shirts.  I was inspired by a friend of mine from back home, who started a small online business (@wovthem) selling her original artwork and textile pieces. With the help of a few DIY video tutorials (would highly recommend checking out @withwendy) and some trial & error, I learned the basics of tapestry weaving! I am loving the freedom that comes with this art form. Each piece starts the same way with a sort of scaffolding called a “warp”. The “weft”, or the transverse component that you weave in, opens up endless opportunities to play with colour palettes, shapes, knots, imperfections, size and movement.
