Artist’s Statement: Hold Your Friends Close - They Are The Moments Of Clarity In A World Of Chaos

I looked up, 

just as a snowflake landed on my eyelash

And I couldn’t help but think 

Of the beauty of it all

As I walked home 

With their beautiful laughs echoing through my ears

Surrounded by heartbeats, just like mine, 

going through life

Each of us in our own little world 

Yet somehow connected by something deeper

Something none of us could explain 

“Platonic soulmates” 

were the only words that came to mind 

Yet I said nothing 

Because our friendship did not require verbal acknowledgement

It wasn’t something that could even be described

It had to be felt

So I just hope they knew how much I loved them

I hope they knew that as long as I was there,

they were never alone 

I hope they knew that friends like them,

are a true blessing 

And I would spend the rest of my life thanking my lucky stars

Because in a world of chaos and disorder,

we found each other 

As the city slowed down to a pause, 

As it became covered by a beautiful white blanket, 

I felt this wave of calmness fall over me 

And I thought to myself

“Life can be messy and hard

but I have them by my side 

So I know I will be alright”
