What inspired this outfit?
My outfit choice was influenced by the weather. The day of the photoshoot was grey, cloudy, and rainy. I wanted my outfit to contrast my surroundings. I paired my dusty pink pants, which are one of my favourite items of clothing, with my blue chunky knit sweater. I like to experiment with different combinations of colour, style, and texture, and while not all combinations are successful, I like how this one turned out!
How would you describe your personal style?
I generally gravitate towards more classic and simple styles and silhouettes, but with an element of drama - whether that be in form, colour, texture, or pattern - that adds a little interest to the piece, and makes it stand out from the rest.
How did you get into fashion?
My mom inspired my interest in fashion. Growing up, I loved watching my mom get ready, and was always drawn to the timelessness and elegance of her personal style. My initial interest in fashion was born out of a desire to emulate my mom. As I grew older, my mom stressed to me the power of fashion in influencing how you are perceived by others and yourself. This prompted a journey of finding my own personal style - one that gives others a glimpse into my personality, but most importantly, helps me to feel comfortable and confident.
Current favourite piece in your closet?
My dusty rose corduroy culottes are one of my favourite, and most-worn pieces in my closet. The classic silhouette of the culottes, paired with the trendy pop of colour and corduroy material, drew my eye to these pants. These pants have all the elements I look for in a good piece of clothing - comfort, versatility, and the ability to add interest to an outfit.
Favourite place to shop OR who are your favourite designers
I never really had a single favourite place to shop. Some of my favourite purchases were made when I unexpectedly happened upon a new (or new to me) shop, going in with no expectations or plans. Therefore, I love exploring new shops and boutiques, and I try not to restrict myself to a specific set of stores when I'm out shopping. However, if I had to name a favourite, recently, I have been having a lot of successes at Marshall's and Winners. It can take a long time to sort through the plethora of items at these stores, but if you have the time, energy, and patience (and a little bit of luck), you can find some wonderful pieces, at a great price. As someone who loves all things home decor and interior design, the home sections of Marshall's and Winners are also a must for me!
